Brimbank Park section - 2.3km eastern
circuit, 3.5km western circuit.
Arguably one of the most picturesque locations in our City,
Brimbank Park’s shared pathways take you around the
entire parkland and cater to all levels of fitness. Follow the
pathway along the Maribyrnong River and take advantage
of the many facilities on offer including barbecues,
playgrounds, visitor’s centre and more. This trail can be
followed for many kilometres – all the way to the city.
You don’t have to travel far from your
front door to enjoy the many parks,
playgrounds and walking and cycling
trails on offer in Brimbank.
The ongoing development and upgrading of
Brimbank’s many parks, playgrounds and open
spaces in line with the
Creating Better Parks Policy
and Plan
means there is something for everyone
to enjoy including the latest in playground
equipment, quality picnic facilities, easy-to-access
shared pathways, and everything in-between.

Brimbank’s network of cycling and walking trails are the perfect
way to discover your local area. The trails are well-designed to
suit everyone from families to avid cyclists and keen walkers.
Brimbank City Council’s continued investment in its local trail
network means the community and visitors can continue to
enjoy the municipality’s outstanding waterways and easy
access to key destinations across the City.
Kororoit Creek Trail
(Deer Park)
Starts:
Isabella Williams Memorial Reserve,
Deer Park (Melway Ref 25 A3)
Ends:
Federation Trail, Brooklyn
(Melway Ref 40 F10)
Length:
approximately 15km
Winding its way through the suburbs of West Sunshine,
Albion, Cairnlea and Deer Park through attractive parkland,
users of this trail can take time out to discover some of the
natural and cultural gems along the creek, including the
Black Powder Mill and natural rock pools. Many parks can
be accessed along the trail including Station Waters Park,
Davitt Drive Reserve, Selwyn Park and Buckingham Reserve,
which is linked to Sunshine by the Cannon Street footbridge.
Jones Creek Trail
Starts:
Edgewater Circuit, Cairnlea
(Melway Ref 25 H2)
Ends:
Jonesfield Corner, Cairnlea
(Melway Ref 26 A6)
Length:
approximately 2km
The trail follows Jones Creek passing alongside very
significant, intact grassland and the Victoria University
St Albans campus before moving through one of
Brimbank’s flagship parks, Kevin Flint Memorial Reserve.
This trail will be extended to the Kororoit Creek Trail in
Deer Park and the Western Ring Road Trail in coming years.

> When out walking or cycling any tracks and trails don’t
forget your hat and sunscreen
> Always wear the appropriate safety gear including an
Australian Standards approved helmet when riding a bike
> Drink plenty of water
> On shared pathways cyclists must give way to pedestrians
> Be courteous to other pathway users
> Keep to the left unless overtaking and only overtake
when it is safe to do so
> Use your bell or horn to politely warn pedestrians that
you are approaching from behind or when you are
entering a blind corner

Opened in July 2013, Alice’s Playspace is an inclusive
playspace in St Albans where children of all abilities and
ages can play together.
Named in honour of Alice Errington, who donated the land
on which Errington Reserve was originally established
in 1910, the playground includes equipment specifically
designed for accessibility and inclusion, spaces to engage
all of the senses, and allow carers to remain in close
proximity if required. There is ample seating and trees
throughout the playground and the toilets are appropriate
for children and adults who are restricted to wheelchairs.
Wheelchair accessible car parking is available on Percy
Street with easy access to the playspace.

Kororoit Creek
Access to:
Kids will love exploring this “volcanic” playground at
Isabella Williams Memorial Reserve. Tall climbing walls,
long slides and nets emerge out of this volcano, which
has colourful play surfaces that “ooze” down the mound
and around the sand pit. There is a big range of play
equipment, including a bird’s nest swing and a super
nova. Additional features include a fitness circuit and
pathway to provide access to Kororoit Creek, which also
connects to Deer Park. There is ample parking.

One visit to Cliff Harvey Lagoon Reserve in Keilor Village
is all you need to discover why this reserve is so popular
with locals and visitors alike. Set amongst mature elms
and expansive lawns, this reserve is truly a treasure.
Kids will have a ball in the all abilities playground with
timber bridges and platforms, climbing nets, rippled
rubber climbing slope, swings and slides, see-saw and
sand pit. There’s even room for ball games.

Known to many as the “rocket ship” park, Buckingham
Reserve offers a great playground with high tower
structure, super slide and a spider’s web climbing net
and is well worth a visit. Access the reserve via the
Kororoit Creek Trail or use it as a starting point to explore
15kms of shared pathway. There is ample parking.

Taylors Creek

Pack the fishing rod and some bread for the waterbirds
before heading to The Lakes Reserve. Set on the shores
of Taylors Lakes, this popular family destination includes
a modern playground, jetties extending over the lake and
fabulous picnic facilities.
The playground is suitable for children of all ages to slide,
climb, run and jump till their hearts content and includes
a giant fish shaped platform. Cyclists can also access the
Taylors Creek pathway from the reserve.

Built on the shores of Jones Creek and
Cairnlea Lake, Kevin Flint Memorial Reserve
has a commanding presence.
Children will enjoy feeding waterbirds from the
jetties and playing on the terraced playground with fun
and engaging play equipment. For the grown-ups, relax
and take in the views while enjoying a picnic surrounded
by green lawns all year round. There is ample parking.

HV McKay Memorial Gardens
Location: Anderson Road, Sunshine
Melway Ref 26G11
The heritage-listed HV McKay Memorial Gardens were established
in 1909 by Hugh Victor McKay who founded the Sunshine Harvester
Works. It is the earliest example of an industrial garden in Victoria.
Walk along the historical network of pathways which wind their
way past large old trees, expansive lawns and attractive flowering
‘Edwardian style’ garden beds, while finding out about the history
of the gardens and local area from the interpretive signs.

north of Watergardens Town Centre

Burrowye Crescent, Keilor

Length:
approximately 8.5km
Ride your bike or take a stroll through the beautiful Taylors
Creek Valley and then on past huge River Red Gums and
remnants of ancient lava flows to parkland in Burrowye
Crescent, Keilor and through The Lakes Reserve in Taylors
Lakes. The trail then winds its way past Rutherglen Way
playground to the Watergardens Town Centre and then
crosses the highway into other areas of Taylors Lakes.
