Brimbank Physical Activity Strategy
Year 3 Actions
Daughters of the West – A health and
wellbeing program delivered in partnership
with Western Bulldogs Community Foundation
to provide females with the tools to live
healthier, happier lives.
Sons of the West – A health and wellbeing program
delivered in partnership with Western Bulldogs
Community Foundation to provide Males with the
tools to liver, healthier, happier lives.
In2Tennis – A festival of free tennis activities for
all ages and abilities in January each year.
In2Active – A free group exercise program for
young people and adults.
In2Sport – Brimbank subsidy program to help
children living in Brimbank take part in community
sport regardless of financial circumstances. The
program aims to fund 75 per cent or up to $200
towards club membership fees.
In addition due to COVID-19, other online
physical activity resources and information
delivered including Be Active Brimbank
Facebook Page, Be Active Website and Be Active
Community Database.
Year 3 Progress
Continue to support, develop and promote group
based Physical Activity programs across Council’s
facilities and open spaces, improve alignments
of these programs. In-person Be Active initiative
delivered including:
• In2Tennis
• Sons of the West
• In2Active
• Brimbank Social Touch Football
• Women’s Only Exercise Classes
• This Girl Can
Online Be Active initiatives delivered including:
• Sons of the West
• Daughters of the West
• In2Active

Women in Sport and Active Recreation
Webinar 2020
• Educational webinar with guest speakers
about making sport more accessible and
inclusive for females.
• 100 participants including 20 Brimbank Clubs.
Policy and Built Environment – Ongoing
Review services provided across various Council
departments to understand current programs and
services offered across Council.
• Outcome – Physical Activity Inventory – An
Inventory of all physical activity programs
Council offers. It was developed to ensure
Council was being efficient in their delivery
and collaborative in their approach to design
and implementation.
• Outcome – Be Active Brimbank – A
campaign to encourage the community
to Be Active regardless of cultural
background, fitness level or ability.
Digital and off line resources available
to help people find physical activity
opportunities including a Physical
Activity Guide, Exercise sheets, Be Active
search platform, Community sign up and
Facebook page.

Advocate and Promote – Ongoing
Developed a branding strategy to consolidate
Council’s Physical Activity programs and services
into one brand to create awareness of opportunities
across Council.
• Outcome – Be Active Brimbank – Council
supported programs, services or events
where you’ll feel welcome to be active
regardless of your cultural background,
fitness level or ability.
A Promotional platform with facilities and venues
that offer opportunities to be physically active.
• Be Active Brimbank webpage – Developed to
assist the community to find physical activity
programs, events and services which are
delivered or supported by Council.
• Be Active Brimbank Facebook page – Provides
physical activity ideas, resources and offerings.
A platform to collaborate with other physical
activity providers and share with the broader
Brimbank community.
