Homelessness: Implementation Plan 2022 to 2024
Page 1 of 3
Homelessness Implementation Plan
JULY 2022 to JUNE 2024
A Homelessness Implementation Plan was initially adopted in June 2020, representing a broad ‘statement of commitment’ from
Council to support people experiencing homelessness in Brimbank, as recommended in the Homelessness Research Report. The
original plan was developed as part of Council’s COVID-19 Response and Recovery Strategy and now consolidates and advances key
actions, reflecting the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.
This plan aligns with and delivers actions under Council’s Together We are Brimbank Plan 2021-2025 (People and Community -
A welcoming, safe and
supported community – an inclusive place for all.)
The plan takes account of the various roles that Council can play in adopting a more integrated, flexible and coordinated approach to preventing and
responding to homelessness in Brimbank. Council’s Position Statement on Social and Affordable Housing identifies key functions of Council, in seeking
to encourage and support increased supply of social and affordable housing. This Implementation Plan includes some actions that are achievable in the
short term, as well as other medium or long term initiatives that are expected to be sustained over time.
